“Just another kid from Burien” is the level of humility that 22-year-old Travis Thompson carries himself with, while his pace from up-and-coming to a regional-name has been anything but ordinary. A graduate of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s residency program, which helps provide the skills and tools to prepare creatives from low-income communities for the music world, Thompson has been making sonic waves locally for some time. But, in 2017, Macklemore pegged him and fellow rapper Dave B. for what would eventually become a number 2 Billboard hit, Corner Store off of Macklemore’s album GEMINI – finally landing them all in a performance in front of two million viewers on Jimmy Fallon’s Tonight Show.

Since then Thompson has gone on to perform at sold-out venues across the country, appearing on several critically regarded radio shows, and has even penned a record deal with music industry giant, Epic Records. His most recent release RUNWAYS, a 6 track EP was well received and sets the stage for an album that appears to have been in the works for the last year or so. While Trav’s notability as a formative voice in hip-hop continues to rise, it’s comforting to know that his roots will always be here, just another kid from the Pacific Northwest.
