Witness: A Fundraising Event

June 15, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - June 16, 2016 @ 1:00 am

We are all, always looking for ways to bear witness to change – and what easier way is there to do so, than a night out with friends, drinks and dancing?

The world is a complex place and it’s often difficult to acknowledge the truth in our collective history. Our goal with this event is to raise funds and create conversation around what we agree to be the most important documentary we’ve ever seen, exploring one of the most difficult subjects to talk about, sexual violence.

Film at 11, an award winning studio out of New York, has produced the first ever documentary to explore the moment a woman known until now as ‘Witness JJ’, testified in front of the International Criminal Tribunal of Rwanda, that rape was used as a tool of war against her and as a method of genocide against the Rwandan Nation. She and two other brave women testified to their experiences, despite threats against their lives, and subsequently changed the trajectory of criminal justice, forever. In turn, this honest, shocking and incredibly empowering film, The Uncondemned will change the way we acknowledge these violations for generations to come.

We’re calling on our friends and families to help us, help the Film at 11 team. Our target is to raise the last $4,000 needed for post-production costs, to make sure this film reaches it’s widest audience possible. Our event will feature local musicians and DJs, limited edition merchandise from local artists, and drink tickets for all who choose to attend and contribute. Donations can be made prior to attendance via the link below – suggested contribution for entry will be $5.
