Cold weather means delicious oysters. You’ve probably heard this idea repeated many times, especially in February, deep in the midst of Seattle’s seemingly interminable winter. Along with being a mantra the people of the Pacific Northwest use to console themselves during these dark days, this statement has the added benefit of being true. It’s your seasonal responsibility to slurp up as many of these briny local delicacies as possible, preferably with cool, crisp wines. I can’t think of a better place to do that than Oyster Fest at Fremont’s Vif, a cafe that’s also a wine shop dedicated to natural wines, which, like oysters, are left mostly alone, allowing their inherent flavors to shine. As an added bonus, Vif is lined with large windows that let in plenty of light, even on the grayest of days.
