Food insecurity has always been a pressing issue, but never has there been a better time to take action.

Due to mass layoffs, inflation, and  the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, more members of our community are facing food insecurity than ever before. The Ballard Food Bank (and many others like it across the U.S.) has seen unprecedented numbers of people in need of assistance since the start of the pandemic, many of whom have never been to a food bank before.

Fortunately, the Ballard Food Bank has continued to expand their crucial services to meet this time of great need. In addition to providing meals for individuals and families across the city, food banks also provide their local communities with critical resources: case management services, public health services, housing assistance, mental health treatment, and veteran services.

We’ve been thrilled to witness the positive impact of local food banks on our communities over the past year. In the hopes of supporting the Ballard Food Bank’s  continued efforts, all Lux locations will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items for the remainder of December.

MOST-NEEDED ITEMS:

  • Soups and chili (particularly low sodium varieties)
  • Peanut Butter
  • Mac and Cheese, Rice-a-roni, and other instant side dishes
  • Canned Tuna, Chicken or Salmon
  • Shelf-stable juice and milk alternatives
  • Individual Oatmeal
  • Individual or full-sized cereals
  • Pasta (all varieties)
  • 1-2 lb bags of rice
  • Coffee

If you’re able to help out this great organization, bring any of the items listed above to the donation box at any Lux location by December 31st!

Thank you for your help in supporting our community this year!
