With summer winding down and energy levels running low, an autumn pick-me-up is essential for the many dark, grey mornings ahead. Borrowing a note from Bulletproof Coffee you can make a caffeinated and Cannabis infused beverage to warm up your bodies and brains. Our two recipes call for cannabis infused coconut oil and/or butter, plus the option to pour some Ruby Cannabis Sugar in for extra uplifting effects. By adding some fresh fruit and slice of toast with options for extra cannabis butter, we made this a well-rounded breakfast to convert your sluggish morning into a fast-paced day. Enjoy wisely and be careful to not overload with oil on the first cup, because we guarantee you’ll want another!

-12 ounces brewed coffee, however you would normally make it, using French-press, pour-over or a drip coffeemaker.
-1 T. almond milk or heavy cream
-Cannabis infused coconut oil or butter

Chai Tea:

-1 heaping T. Chai mix
-2 teaspoons brewed black tea, made with a tea bag or loose-leaf tea filter
– We bought chai tea mix and black tea from World Spice Market, but using a pre-packaged tea bag is fine.
-1 T. almond milk or heavy cream
-Cannabis infused coconut oil or butter

First, make cannabis-infused olive oil: 

16 ounces olive oil
1/4 ounce of cannabis

  1.  Finely grind up cannabis. If you use the family coffee grinder, be sure to wash it out afterwards.
  1. On low heat, add cannabis and oil to pan, mix well with a metal whisk. Keep heat medium-low. If you see bubbles, decrease the heat, and be very careful not to burn the cannabis. Stir frequently every 5-7 minutes, for about an hour. Never leave it unattended.
  1. While cannabis mixture is still hot, use a coffee filter to strain out the cannabis over a clean mason jar. Set aside. This can be stored at room temperature, out off direct sunlight. This recipe can also be used to infuse butter with cannabis but if you use butter, the infusion should be stored in the freezer or refrigerator.

Next, infuse the beverage:

  1. When preparing this coffee or chai, feel free to experiment, adding from 1/4 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of infused oil or butter.
  2. Pour coffee or tea into a mug to size up how much you would like; we used about 12 ounces and added various amounts of butter, oil, almond milk and or cream.
  3. To ensure proper emulsification of oil into the coffee, pour coffee into a Ninja, Bullet or blender for about 30 seconds. Coffee will come out creamy and delicious.
  4. Optional: Add Ruby Cannabis Sugar in to taste, each packet contains 10MG and can be used sparingly and saved for later, or in its entirety.
